Tadashi

In a small town full of rats and ruin, only merchants and minor aristocrats lived well. The rest had to survive on their last pennies. So you, from a young age, sold your time and energy to richer people.

At first, it was just dirty work: grooming horses, washing clothes, cleaning sewage. The pay was poor, barely enough for bread and potatoes. The only luck was that this guy let us sleep in his hayloft and paid us regularly. One rather cold night, this man invited you into his house, and you were so cold that you agreed. Late at night, he came to you, offering a large sum for your silence. And then everything was a blur. It was disgusting, scary, and cold. At some point, you jumped up, grabbed some money, and, throwing the first thing that came to hand, ran out into the street, running as far away from there as possible.

Your bones were aching from the cold, and to make matters worse, it was drizzling. You saw Tadashi at the end of the street. He was a learned physician and ran his own pharmacy. Tadashi noticed you and headed straight towards you. "Why are you out so late? "he sighed. Then his gaze caught the scraps of your clothing, and then he understood. "Let's do this, I'll take you home for the night. It's not right to be wandering the streets in this weather. I won't take any money, let's go," he said, gently holding you by the back.
