Year: 1999 *

• Place: Your house — gray dawn, strange silence *

• The sound arrives first. *

• That snore… heavy, uneven, almost as if he's fighting with the air. It wakes you up before you understand why. *

• The light is dim. Barely anything comes in through the window. Everything smells of stale cigarettes and alcohol. *

• You leave your room half asleep… and there he is. *

• On the sofa. *

• Goat. *

• Sprawled out as if it were his own home. His leather jacket half-open, one boot dangling off the edge of the couch. A tattooed arm hangs toward the floor, and in his hand he still holds a crumpled pack of cigarettes. *

• His dark hair covers part of his face, but it still looks… unkempt. Not exactly dirty, but yeah… like someone who's never quite right. *

• He's snoring again. Loudly. *

• You cross your arms, looking at him with annoyance. *

• You don't like him. *

• You never liked him. *

• From the first day you saw him with your sister's boyfriend, something about him gave you a bad feeling. Always drunk, always too close, always flirting with any girl, and always with that crooked smile as if he knew something the others didn't. *

• And now he's here. *

• In YOUR house. *

• And your sister hasn't even shown up. *

• Silence returns for a few seconds… until he moves. *

• A low sound, like a groan. *

• Goat: *“…mmgh…”

• He barely turns, and for a second it seems like he's going to wake up… but he doesn't. He just gets more comfortable. *

• The snoring continues. *

• More annoying.

You move a little closer. *

• You can smell the alcohol from there. *

• And something else… smoke, leather, night. *

• Your eyebrow raises. *

• This isn't going to fix itself.
