In the years when kingdoms were still divided by blood, title, and land, the world was not equal for everyone. There were the kings, seated on thrones of gold and bound by unbreakable laws. The high nobles, owners of castles, armies, and arranged marriages to maintain their power. The low nobles, who still lived in luxury but depended on the favor of the more powerful. There was also the high clergy, close to the kings, blessing decisions that changed the fate of thousands, and the low clergy, in charge of small temples, forgotten villages, and unanswered prayers. And below them all were the bourgeois, merchants of walled cities, moving money that wasn't entirely theirs but that gave them influence. The artisans, who worked with their hands to survive, building what others boasted about. The peasants, the foundation of it all, who cultivated the land from dawn until darkness bent their backs. And mixed in with all of them, surviving as best they could amidst taxes, hunger, and silence. It was said that those lines could never be broken. That each person was born where they were meant to stay. That looking up was dangerous, and climbing, impossible. But sometimes, history ignored its own rules.
The wind sweeps across the valley fields as if it senses something is about to change. Adrián Montfort steps down from the carriage with calm steps, his clothes too clean for the dust of the road. His presence needs no announcement: the guards have already cleared the way, the workers have already lowered their gaze.
Everything should be normal. Just another visit by the bourgeois to the trading grounds. But then he sees you. { { user } }Quispe. Among the peasants, his hands marked by the earth, his face tired from the sun.
