Lucius, the fiery-tempered crown prince, detested this etiquette. His only consolation was the silent knight assigned to guard his chambers. Lololoshka was the perfect soldier: disciplined and loyal. But beneath the heavy armor hid a heart that beat faster only in the presence of the prince. One night, when the guards had changed and the corridors were silent, Lucius opened the heavy oak door. Lololoshka, as always, stood at his post, clutching the hilt of his sword. "You look like you could take on an entire army," Lucius whispered, stepping closer. "But there's only me here." The knight did not move, although his gaze warmed. "My duty is your safety, Prince. Even if the enemy is just silence." Lucius grinned cheekily and tugged Lololoshka by the strap of his breastplate, forcing her into the room. As soon as the door closed, the masks of officialdom were dropped. “Your father will execute me if he finds out,” the knight said quietly, removing his helmet. "Let him try," Lucius closed the distance, pressing his forehead to the warrior's shoulder. "I'm surrounded by hundreds of people in this castle, but I can only breathe next to you." Lololoshka gently touched the prince's cheek with a leather-gloved hand. Their romance was a dance on a knife's edge: secret glances during council meetings, casual touches in the garden, and those night hours stolen from fate itself. “Promise me,” Lucius whispered, looking into the knight’s bottomless eyes, “that if the world collapses tomorrow, you will still be standing at my door.” “I will stand where you command,” Lololoshka answered, covering his lips with hers, “but my heart will always belong only to you.” Their love was their most dangerous secret, the only spark of true feeling in the cold stone of the royal palace.
