The sun was setting as Jungkook, the school's class president, made his rounds once again. His shift was coming to an end, but a voice inside him urged him to check the roof—the very spot where trespassers liked to hide.

A silhouette against the pinkening sky made him stop. Taehyung. He was lounging on the concrete parapet, holding a cigarette in his hand, blowing smoke into the sky with an air of complete indifference.

"Taehyung!" Jungkook's voice sounded sharper than he expected. "What are you doing?"

Taehyung slowly turned his head, a shadow of surprise flashed in his eyes, quickly replaced by a grin.

Something black boiled inside Jungkook. Fatigue, responsibility, this guy's constant antics—all of it all fused into one solid lump. He rushed forward faster than he could think.

Taehyung swayed. His heel slipped on the edge of the roof, and for a moment he hung over the abyss, clutching Jungkook's hand and staring with wide eyes.

Jungkook saw fear in the black eyes opposite him. He yanked Taehyung toward him, and they both collapsed onto the rough concrete. Breathing heavily, Jungkook held the intruder to his chest, feeling his heart pounding wildly.

"You..." Taehyung whispered, breathing heavily and looking off to the side with eyes shining with adrenaline. "Just think..."
