Elaine's Adventure

There is, but not everywhere.
These aren't exactly modern technologies, but rather ancient ones. As artifacts, they only resemble modern devices more closely.
For example: Naiji. This artifact is a phone with a storage device capable of storing a nearly limitless amount of knowledge. These are extremely rare and highly prized.
There are a lot more similar artifacts, but you will find out about this in the story.

In the world of Elaine's Journey, there is no classic Inquisition or systemic witch hunters as they are usually depicted in dark fantasy.
In this universe, magic is completely legal and socially accepted, and witches themselves enjoy enormous authority, high status, and respect. However, her travels also present localized threats:
Anti-magic laws in individual countries: There is no single empire in the world. Each country is a sovereign state with its own rules. Elaine visited regions where magic was strictly prohibited by local kings or laws. In such places, guards or special soldiers can arrest a witch and confiscate her wand.
Bandits and robbers: On ordinary roads between countries, mages may be attacked by criminals. However, they do so not for religious reasons, but for profit (for example, to steal valuable magical artifacts, brooches, or ingredients).
Struggle within the magical community: The main enemy of bad magicians are the magicians themselves. The United Witches Association maintains order. If a witch goes mad or breaks the law (like Selena or Miraroza), other official witches declare a hunt for them.

During her travels, Elaine met dozens of people, but a few characters left the deepest mark on her memory and had a profound impact on her.
Whom she managed to see (bright encounters)
Miraroza: A blind witch who, in her madness, created a monster (Jabari) and destroyed her own kingdom out of revenge against her father.
Sheila (Witch of the Night Plot): Fran's partner and Saya's mentor, a rough-and-tumble but skilled crime-fighting witch.
Mina: Saya's younger sister. Elaine met her while working at the Witches' Association, where Mina displayed intense jealousy toward her sister.
Emil and Nino: A young man who collected happiness in a jar and his mute slave. The most tragic encounter, which showed Elaine the cruelty of the world.
Who did she remember the most?
Selena: A young orphan who became a serial killer due to psychological trauma. Elaina was unable to prevent the tragedy and was forced to watch her execution. This encounter shattered Elaina's illusions about the "fairytale world" and remained her most terrifying lesson.

Hierarchy of Magicians
There are three main ranks awarded by the Association of Magicians:
Apprentice Witch
The lowest rank. They wear silver brooches.
They know how to cast spells, but are not yet qualified to practice magic professionally. They are trained by fully-fledged witches.
Mage
Intermediate status. They have the right to work using magic, but their authority and power are not yet recognized by the higher community.
Witch
Highest rank. They wear gold brooches of unique design.
They receive an official name and title (for example, Elaine - Ash Witch, Fran - Witch of the Starry Night). They have the right to teach students themselves and enjoy enormous social status.

Magic in Elaine's world is based on innate talent and strict control, and mage society is divided into clear ranks.
How magic works
Source and tool: Witchcraft requires a wand, which concentrates and directs the magician's internal mana.
Limitations: Magic consumes physical and mental energy. Without a wand, casting complex spells is nearly impossible.
Application: Magic is universal - from everyday needs (cleaning clothes, levitating objects) to combat spells (creating barriers, elemental attacks) and creating artifacts.

Before leaving, Elaine made three promises to her mother that shaped her aloof demeanor on the trip.
Elaine's parents
Mother (Victorica): Formerly the famous witch Niki, author of Elaine's favorite book. A wise, strict, and insightful woman, she hired Fran to teach Elaine how to overcome difficulties.
Father: An ordinary man, very loving and emotional. He spoils his daughter dearly and cried bitterly when she left home.
Three promises
Avoiding any danger means not being a hero and putting your own life and safety first. Not considering yourself special means remembering that you're just like everyone else, so you don't give in to pride.
She must return home - to finish her journey someday and show her parents that she is okay.

Elayne (Ash Witch)
Status: The youngest witch of the highest rank, having passed the exam at the age of 14.
Character: Proud, calculating, ironic, values ​​money and comfort.
Role: Observer. Adheres to the rule of not interfering in the affairs of other countries, even if tragedies occur there.
Appearance: Ash-blond hair, purple eyes, wears a witch's hat and a star-shaped brooch.
Hobbies: Reading books and occasionally following the game CS 2 (Counter-Strike 2). She's been a reader since childhood, and as a teenager, she began following the game, which featured her idols.
Fran (Witch of the Starry Night)
Status: A powerful witch, Elaine's teacher and Nika's (the author of Elaine's favorite book) student.
Personality: On the outside, she's frivolous, gentle, and a butterfly lover. On the inside, she's wise, strict, and insightful.
Role: Taught Elaine to stand up for herself, deal with failures, and not hide her true feelings.
Saya (Coal Witch) Status: An immigrant from an Eastern country who was able to become a witch thanks to Elaine's support.
Personality: Insecure, emotional, clumsy, obsessed with Elaine.
Role: A foil to the main character. Symbolizes genuine affection and devotion.
