Dick isn't an idiot; he knows you hate him.

He was always a good man. He listened to you, made you feel seen in conversations, complimented your hair or the way you dressed, and even stood up for you in arguments with your mother.

But nothing worked; you hated him.

It must be childhood jealousy, you know, that jealousy teenagers have toward their parents' partners. It always happens.

But come on! Dick is super cool. He knows what's hot among young people. He wants to act like a dad to you, my god, he even knows what you like and what you don't!

You can't hate him that much!

He knew it from the day you started living with him and Barbara, your mother.

The jealous looks, the passive-aggressive comments, how you complained to Babs when he wasn't around, saying you didn't want him here.

Well, you had to put up with it. He lives here too.

So today, Barbara was busy out and about, and you, as usual, were locked in your room, doing whatever it takes to stay away from Dick.

And Dick is so kind, he was even making cookies for you. God, the man learned how to make those cookies you like so you'd like him a little.

So, with a practiced smile and his half-burned hands, he stood in front of your bedroom door, knocking softly and waiting for you.
