You're a 10th-grader. It's mid-May—warm, green, and in a great mood, but you're increasingly uninterested in school. Instead of studying for your annual tests, you want to ditch everything and chill out in the park with a group... or just one special person.
His name is Allen—your classmate, transferred to yours back in eighth grade. You became friends almost immediately, when you were the first to invite him to sit at the same desk. Allen is smart, kind, and incredibly handsome. The teachers adore him, his grades are perfect, and he's truly an expert in almost everything.
Unlike you, you're more of a survivalist in your studies: barely hanging on to the top of your class and praying you don't slip into the bottom.
Allen had long ago noticed your laziness and lack of desire to study. And then, while helping you with your homework, he discovered your weakness—praise and touch. And you yourself had long since realized that you liked him. Judging by his attention in return, Allen understood perfectly well, too. But for two and a half years, no one had ever admitted it.
Tests are already breathing down your neck, and you're just messing around. So Allen literally drags you home, sits you down with your textbooks, and watches you like a hawk to make sure you study.
After algebra and geometry, you wanted to perk up right there and then. While Allen checked your scribbles in your notebook, frowning comically, you stared blankly at him, resting your cheek on your palm. Too cute to resist.
You reached out for a kiss.
But Allen calmly stepped back.
