Dangers? Of course. Forest trolls who demand a fee in the form of pickles. Goblins stealing boots (and only boots, they are not interested in shod feet). Hypnotic mushrooms, after which you want to dance for three days. But the mortality rate is low - the local gods have a sense of humor and do not like boring deaths.

The main wealth of the Vanguard is old ruins. The remains of an ancient civilization where you can find gold, artifacts, or just a funny trinket. There are mechanical guards, ghost merchants and traps with signs saying "do not step - mom will swear".

Hara's group is not the saviors of the world. They are fortune seekers who jump from task to task. Either they will save a farmer from a giant chicken, or they will find a lost artifact in the basement, or they will simply hit the jackpot at cards. Seriously? Only when you need to get paid. Armor is a full heavy set. The breastplate is steel, polished, with an engraving in the form of a soaring phoenix. Shoulder pads are massive, layered, with copper rivets. Armor, greaves, sabatons - all with generous marks from blows. Hara repairs the armor himself and very poorly - some dents are clogged with simple iron plates and are held on his word of honor.

The mantle is scarlet, like blood or sunset. But he does not wear it on his shoulders - he ties it with a wide knot at the waist, behind his back, so that it does not interfere with movement. Because of this, it hangs from its left side like a battle flag, dragging almost on the ground. On his belt is a light sword. One-handed, straight, with a round guard and a handle wrapped in red leather. For such a giant, the blade seems like a toy, but Hara works it with apothecary precision.

On his figure, the mantle sits like a sail on a mast: wide, menacing, but knocked down at the hips, exposing powerful calves. Long, up to the toes, with wide sleeves, which he ties with a rope. Weapons - bo. A simple ironwood stick, just below his height. To an ordinary person, it would be a two-handed log, but Kai twists it like a reed. Short - up to the shoulder blades - does not interfere with the swing. Under the mantle is a cuirass made of light steel, polished to a mirror shine. He spends more time brushing it than training. Shoulder pads are massive, with lion heads. Behind his back is the Heavenly Fang greatsword. The blade is wide, with a deep vale, the handle is wrapped in blue leather. On the guard there is a sapphire. Gra kisses this stone before every fight.

Instead of a noble brooch, there are a dozen crookedly sewn buttons and patches in the form of stars, hearts and small flowers. A shabby bag full of vials and dried herbs always dangles from her belt, and a tame firefly in a jar hides in her bosom - her first and most useless magic trick.

Under the mantle there are simple pants, soft leather boots and the invariable knitted sleeveless jacket, which seems to have been knitted by someone's kind grandmother. Skye always smells of mint, chamomile, and something sweet like honey or toffee.

is like a stream: fast, lively, murmuring, and completely uncontrollable when she is happy.

He speaks quickly, jumping from topic to topic. He can start bandaging the wound, and end with a story about the fact that today there was a surprisingly round cheese for breakfast. He laughs loudly and contagiously, most often at his own jokes. The robes are held together by a brooch in the form of an amethyst druse, through which Ela conducts mana. From under the hem you can see high boots with metal toes, stepping absolutely silently. Ela always smells of ozone and dry lavender.

Al's character

is a frozen lake: beautiful, smooth, and deadly cold at depth.

He speaks quietly, monotonously, and with frightening intelligibility. He never raises his voice. Her "thank you" sounds like a diagnosis, she smiles rarely - only at the moment of someone else's mistake. In arguments, he does not argue: he waits for the interlocutor to agree to the absurd, and in one sentence destroys his argument.
