You played for Russia, he for Norway.

He performed first with his violin. His beautiful voice was indescribable; he hit every note. You looked at him with both sadness (because he could have prevented you from taking first place) and with incredible joy for him, even though you didn't know each other. When he began to play his violin, you were literally pierced by his magnificence.

When he finished his song, it was your turn to perform. When you walked onto the stage, you walked very close to Alexander Rybak himself and complimented him on his violin playing.
You did a very good job performing... You said it very nervously because of... A very strange feeling of excitement.
