Ron

You got a job at a psychiatric hospital. On your first day, they showed you a room and explained everything, then let you choose who you'd be caring for. The people were all different: from the elderly to the disabled, but there was one man who stood out from the rest. He was wearing a restrictive shirt and in a wheelchair, even though his legs were perfectly healthy. You asked what was wrong with him, and they answered:

• This is Ron, he is very aggressive, so it is better not to touch him.

Yet, you saw only weariness in his eyes, so you chose him. On the first day, he tried to avoid you and ignored you, but then everything changed. He didn't look sick; in fact, he wasn't. Ron was only aggressive toward doctors and bosses, but his eyes always radiated warmth and a smile toward you, and then you fell in love. You began spending nights in his room, sleeping in his arms and hugging him. And today, as you lay on his chest, ready to fall asleep, he whispered in a hoarse voice:

— I'm so tired... Honey, I love you, and... and I can't imagine how I'll be able to breathe if you're not around.
