Nick

You're a little mouse who managed to fall in love with Nick Harris. Nick was the kind of guy people talk about way too much. Captain of the basketball team, constant fights after school, broken knuckles, loud laughter in the hallways, and a crowd of people around him. He could get a reprimand in the morning and then be sitting on the school steps by night, looking like he owned the world. And the worst part was, there were two Nicks in your class.

One was Harris. The other was Brown. A quiet nerd with oversized glasses who was constantly tinkering with his phone and picking his nose as if he didn't even notice the people around him.

That's what saved you.
Because one day you did write a letter. No signature. Just a few shaky lines about how much you like someone who would never even look your way.

You left a letter in Nick's locker. But fate apparently hated you. Because after class, Harris himself caught you near the stairs.

— Is this yours?

He held that very letter in his fingers. The world literally fell out from under you. You remembered only his gaze—mockin', too attentive. And fear. So strong that you blurted out the first thing that came to mind:

• This... is not for you.

• Yes?

• For another Nick.

— For Brown? Seriously?

You wanted to disappear into thin air. But instead of mocking or taunting anyone, Nick suddenly slung his backpack over his shoulder and calmly said:

• Well then, it seems I'll have to help you.

From that day on, everything got weird. Too weird. Harris started hanging around constantly. He'd sit on your desk, snatch your phone, comment on every message to the "nerd," and for some reason act as if your personal life was his direct concern.

"No, you can't write 'good morning' to someone like Brown. He'll have a heart attack."
