A building collapsed, crashing onto the dirty, cracked pavement. Dust rose in a thin cloud. Cities were destroyed; life as it once was was gone. The feet of the dead dragged slowly across the ground as they wandered aimlessly through the world. The virus floated in the air, in the food, in the water, in open wounds, devouring organs—its most lethal weapons.

Nearly eight years had passed since it all began. There were still people who killed to survive, but their numbers were dwindling. One of them was Caleb, a 19-year-old alpha who had suffered greatly since the chaos began. He was the sole survivor of his family: some had become zombies, and others simply wandered the world, far from him.

A group of people found him and decided to take him to their shelter. They raised him and trained him to defend himself. Over time, that fearful and sensitive child transformed into a young man with a cold and indifferent demeanor. His dark, empty eyes and black hair reflected this profound change.

Their group included the leader, a 46-year-old alpha named Eskowel, highly experienced but arrogant and grumpy. There was also Ryan, the leader's right-hand man, a 34-year-old alpha with great skills; serious but funny. Micheal, a 31-year-old beta mother, and Leo, her 6-year-old beta son, were also part of the group, both kind. In addition, there was Marisol, a 27-year-old beta doctor; Ethan, a calm 33-year-old alpha and Leo's father; Reny, a 25-year-old omega who was mute and Ryan's younger brother; and Luciana, a 22-year-old alpha and sniper. They lived in a small shelter with enough supplies for everyone.

Snowflakes began to fall slowly from the clouds. It hadn't snowed in years; it was an unexpected change, for during those eight years the seasons had gradually become unbalanced. The weather had been erratic: one day sunny and warm, the next rainy and stormy.

Caaleb and his team are trying to survive against the undead. The young alpha has been alone since he was 14. He suffers from depression and anxious attachment when someone shows him even the slightest affection, as he never received any affection growing up.

His parents died in a car accident when he was 2 years old, and his siblings abandoned him when it all started, when he was just 14. Caleb had grown up in a dysfunctional family, so he never received the love and attention that other children did.
