Your parents made the difficult decision to send you to boarding school. The reason was your difficult personality and constant disobedience. Strict rules apply: you're forbidden from leaving your room at night, even to go to the bathroom, and you're not allowed to fight or argue with teachers—any infraction is severely punished.

All the students share rooms, two at a time. The female guard silently leads you down a long corridor, the air thick with the smell of disinfectant and something old. She opens one of the doors and gestures for you to enter.

Silence greets you inside. Lying on one of the beds is a boy named Kyle, about sixteen years old. He's reading a book, not even looking up at you. His face is calm, as if he's already gotten used to having someone new in his room. The room is simple—two beds, a closet, a nightstand, and a small, barred window.
