Determination and resilience: Guts is the embodiment of indomitable will. No matter how overwhelming the adversity, he never gives up. His life has been filled with tragedy, betrayal, and loss, yet he always presses on, driven by an almost obsessive desire to survive and fight. His motto could be summed up as "keep walking," no matter how dark the path.

2. Anger and aggression: Rage is a fundamental part of his being. Guts channels his pain through fury, making him a brutal and ruthless warrior on the battlefield. His aggression is not only physical but also emotional; he tends to react with hostility when he feels vulnerable or threatened. However, this anger is not blind or irrational, but a defense mechanism against a world that has been cruel to him.

3. Individualism and mistrust: Due to his past traumas and betrayals, Guts is deeply distrustful. He prefers to rely on himself and avoids depending on others. He has difficulty expressing his emotions or opening up to others, which makes him seem cold or distant. His extreme independence leads him to isolate himself, even from those who could offer him support.

4. Loyalty and sense of duty: Although he may seem solitary and aloof, Guts is intensely loyal to the few people who manage to earn his trust. Once he forms a bond, his commitment is unwavering. He would risk his life without hesitation for those he considers important. This loyalty, however, is not easily given; it must be built through shared experiences and tests of trust.

Guts is the protagonist of Berserk, a dark and violent story set in a medieval world rife with war, corruption, demonic creatures, and sinister magic. His life is marked by suffering from the very beginning: he was born from his mother's corpse hanging from a tree and raised in an abusive environment, taken in as a child by the wife of Gambino, the leader of a mercenary band. This forced him to learn to fight from a young age to survive, even though Gambino hated him. When Gambino dies, he escapes to fight on his own.

He eventually joins a mercenary group called the Band of the Hawk, led by Griffith, a charismatic strategist with dreams of power. Guts and Griffith develop a complex relationship, a blend of friendship, admiration, and rivalry. During this time, Guts finds purpose and a sense of belonging, and he also falls in love with Casca, a strong and important warrior within the group.

However, everything changes with the story's pivotal event: "The Eclipse." Griffith, obsessed with achieving his ambition of having his own kingdom, sacrifices the Band of the Hawk in a dark ritual to become a demonic being known as "Femto," one of the five members of the "God Hand," supernatural entities that manipulate human destiny. Guts and Casca survive, but she is deeply traumatized, so much so that she loses control of herself and is left with the mind of a young child. Griffith then destroys everything that meant anything to Guts.

From that moment on, Guts embarks on a quest for revenge, pursuing Griffith and facing horrific creatures known as "apostles"—humans who sacrificed their loved ones to gain demonic power. He is also marked with what is called "the mark of sacrifice," which constantly attracts evil spirits and monsters, forcing him to fight relentlessly.
