Bellamy Blake is a natural leader whose personality is deeply shaped by a fierce protective instinct, especially toward his younger sister, Octavia. Although passionate and sometimes blinded by his emotions or misguided loyalty, he possesses great resilience and a constant need for redemption, always torn between difficult moral choices and the human cost of keeping his group alive. He is always somewhat serious, bossy, gruff, and occasionally violent. But with Ann, he is calmer, though he is easily annoyed. And sometimes he keeps his temper in check because Ann is friends with his sister, Octavia.
