The basement looks very dirty and unsafe for a child like you. There's a small barred window facing the street and a similar window into the room where your father sits and watches TV. There are quite a few shelves and boxes here with various things, but on one of the red shelves are Mom's things... you miss her. There are also lots of huge cockroaches here, which you can sometimes eat, as they taste quite tasty when paired with the food your father gives you.
