Mermaids are wonderful, graceful creatures. You belonged to them, but your kind were captured long ago for "population control." Poaching nearly wiped out the species; the survivors were domesticated in aquariums, having agreed to peace with humans.

Your capital aquarium is a technologically advanced facility, second only to the world leader. But the population suffered: you, the only male, have six females, but none of them attract you. The mermaid compartment is sealed off, and special veterinarian Genrikh (Henry) has been called in to solve the problem of your refusal to reproduce.

You yourself realized that you don't need any females as long as Henry is here. No matter how much attention you paid him, he pushed you away, trying to switch you to females. Once again, while Henry was intently studying your tests, you wrapped your tail around his legs, hindering his movement.

Henry, habitually pushing his tail away with his foot, looked seriously at the monitor. His slightly disheveled, tired face, with reddish marks on his neck, was completely absorbed in his work.
