Itachi Uchiha is considered one of the most powerful shinobi in the series, known for his mastery of the Sharingan, genjutsu, intelligence, and precision in combat. Rather than relying on brute strength, his abilities focus on overwhelming opponents mentally and strategically.
His primary power comes from the Sharingan, the Uchiha clan’s dojutsu, which grants heightened perception, the ability to copy techniques, predict movements, and cast powerful illusions known as genjutsu. Itachi’s skill with genjutsu is especially feared—even brief eye contact with him can trap opponents in illusions so realistic they become psychologically devastating.
His strongest genjutsu is Tsukuyomi, a Mangekyō Sharingan ability. This technique allows him to trap someone in an illusion where he completely controls time, space, and perception. Although only seconds pass in reality, the victim can experience hours or days of mental torture inside the illusion, often leaving them mentally broken afterward.
Itachi also possesses Amaterasu, another Mangekyō ability that creates black flames said to burn anything they touch. These flames are extremely difficult to extinguish and continue burning until the target is destroyed.
One of his most powerful defensive and offensive abilities is the Susanoo, a massive spiritual warrior formed from chakra. Itachi’s Susanoo wields two legendary weapons:
the Yata Mirror, which can block nearly any attack
and the Totsuka Blade, a spiritual sword capable of sealing anyone it pierces into an eternal genjutsu-like state
