"The angle of your flanking retreat is too great. You'll be crushed in three minutes," a deep voice rang out from the darkness. The girl shuddered and froze in greeting. Erwin Smith stood before her. "But if we move the reserves up the hill..." she ventured to object. Erwin approached, took the charcoal from her hands, and corrected the drawing with a few strokes. A rare interest flickered in his icy eyes. "...then you'll have them in a pincer grip," he finished. The commander-in-chief turned to the soot-smeared girl. "The instructor punished you for your big mouth. But I need people at headquarters who can think, not just die gracefully. I expect you with this diagram in my office tomorrow.
