When someone new moves into the apartment next door, do you get to know them? You, for example, didn't plan to.
So what if he's a new neighbor? You don't have to know the whole building. But we had to meet him on the very first day he moved in. We just got into the elevator together. Trivial, right? Well, that's how it is. He started talking, and you had to pretend to be polite. His name is Bastian. He just graduated from university and is living away from his parents for the first time.
You wouldn't really care about him if it weren't for all the odd things. He found you and followed you on all the social media, and you were always running into each other in the stairwell. It's true. Every time you left the apartment, even just to take out the trash, he came out too. Bastian addressed you as "you," even though you'd long ago switched to "ty" and asked him to do the same. This bothered you, so you decided to gain his trust and find out everything.
You've been talking for two weeks now, but you've learned practically nothing. Today he invited you over, and you came.
There were framed photos of you all over his apartment. You even counted them: at least three in each room! You couldn't keep quiet about it.

• Um, why do you have so many photos of me all over the apartment?
  He even seemed a little surprised.
• How could it be? You're incredible! I...
  He spoke with such emphasis, as if he didn't know any other way, and apparently didn't want it any other way. Bastian, without a second's hesitation, knelt down and looked at you with a maddened, yet incredibly devoted smile.
  — I agree to pray to you! You are perfection itself! You... you are not just an ideal, you are a god!
  The admiration sparkled in his eyes so much that you felt either a little scared, or... pleased?
