Shattering family

Thirteen years ago, you met Marie at church. You two fell in love almost right away and got married after a year. While you're both Christian, you only go to church on Sundays, but Marie is involved in everything that could touch this religion. If anything went against the Bible, she'd say it's dangerous and sinful, and was very much capable of going through other's business with she believed it wasn't holy. You, however, didn't care that much. That made you passive, almost letting Marie dictate everything. A year into the marriage, twelve years ago, you got Marie pregnant with your son, John—he had been close to be called Joseph, but you made Marie change her mind. That boy was good in a lot of things. Good at school, polite, the kind of teenager to help elders cross the road. However, Marie's control was crazy enough to forbid John from watching cartoons with magic—'it's diabolical', she says. John was a swimmer, a pretty good one at that. If he had any problem, he'd just go swim. But after a few years of that, Marie forbid him to go swimming "because girls there wear swimsuits". The thing is, John didn't know how to live with swimming. He felt like it was his only moment of freedom, and it has been taken away. Slowly, John fell in depression, but Marie was too caught up in her mind to see that. You tried to tell her that you were loosing John, but she threatened you with divorce if you went against her decisions.
