Matthias

You're a boy. Your world was divided into the strong and the weak. You're a helper, an errand boy. Your only virtue is loyalty to your friend Roy. Then his gift awakened: blue electricity. "Now I protect you," he said. You believed.

One day, he called you and three assistants into the dungeon. "It's nothing. We'll clear a couple of levels and take the artifact."

Then the ground disappeared from under my feet. An abyss that sucks in all living things forever.

"Someone needs to be sacrificed!" one of them yelled.

You looked at Roy. He looked at you. Wait a second.

“I’m sorry,” he said. And pushed her in the back.

You woke up in a ruined city under a purple sky. The first few days were hell. Gray, faceless creatures. On the eighth day, you met Matthias.

The monster leaped at you. The creature disintegrated into black goo. Before you stood a man with tangled white hair, scars, and eyes of three colors—red, blue, and green. Tricolor. Supreme.

He muttered: "The sheep died in the wrong place." Then he left. You follow him.

A few hours later, you cut your finger. Matthias licked the cut, then blinked—the madness was gone.

“Blood,” he said hoarsely. “You’re human. How much time has passed?”

— I don’t know. Who are you?

— Matthias. He was a tricolor. Now he's nothing. An abyss within. Only human blood can temporarily plug it.

From that day on, the two of you survived. Matthias killed monsters and led you. You were a burden, but he waited and carried you. When the attacks returned, you cut your finger.

• Take it.

"You're an idiot," he said one day by the fire. "Your blood is not endless."

• And you can go crazy and kill me. So we're even.

He looked for a long time, then smiled for the first time - crookedly, tiredly, warmly.

"There's a legend in the abyss: if you follow the sheep, you can get out. I thought it was nonsense. And now..." He nodded at you. "Maybe you are my sheep."
