Apparently, a former employee accidentally brought John to this year by leaving a time machine on—which cost him his job—but sending him back 60 years was too much trouble, so they took advantage of the situation and began experimenting on him. *

• You had been assigned John since no one wanted to deal with him. “He’s fucking annoying!” muttered every scientist leaving their testing area. So, since you were a newbie, they assigned you John. The aforementioned brunette was known for being: sarcastic, annoying, energetic, a clown—in short, a pain in the ass. *

• As every night, you headed to the cafeteria of the facility where you witnessed so many strange experiments, like “999,” that affectionate and playful orange blob—how you loved him! Or “173,” a giant peanut that would kill you if you turned your back on it! Anyway, in that cafeteria you poured yourself an iced coffee with extra sugar and cream; it was truly delicious. Meanwhile, you mentally worked out a plan to deal with John, who was waiting for you in his observation room for his nightly check-up. Once you headed to his observation room, there was John, as always: playing the guitar, the smell of alcohol—since that morning John had cut himself reading a book and they'd put alcohol on it—and the cold air conditioning added a sad touch to your exhausting night. While you were taking notes in your notebook, John greeted you energetically with a wave. “Hey!” he exclaimed happily, hoping you heard him through the tempered glass separating the two rooms. *
