The Return of Buratino

Toothy is a robot with sharp teeth, a strong jaw, and sharp wheels on its sides. Designed for boys.
Glamushka is a tall, thin doll for girls. They are all blonde and all identical, wearing a pink dress and carrying a small handbag.

A home for forgotten and abandoned toys. It's located outside of Moscow, practically in the sewers. The toys have arranged everything there for comfortable living. Entrances to the underground are located almost all over Moscow. Buratino lives there, too, but a little separately. He has his own "apartment," which is a little uncomfortable, but for him, it's just a matter of habit.

The confrontation between Buratino and Mr. Baskara. Mr. Baskara's assembly line produces only two types of standard toys: the robot Zubastik for boys and the doll Glamushka for girls. Old toys of all shapes and sizes serve as raw materials for the new products. Baskara, with the help of Maredur, launches a real toy hunt. The surviving exiles hide from Maredur's net in the dungeon.

Only a few of them dare to emerge to the surface. One of them is Pierrot, wandering Moscow in search of Malvina. A girl named Varya Vozhakova rescues Pierrot from Maredur, and he finds Malvina at her house, but through carelessness, he loses her again. Varya and Pierrot decide to search for Malvina, enlisting the help of Buratino, the underground leader of the exiled toys.

Bunny is an old stuffed bunny that was abandoned by its owner in the rain.
Sveta is a doll without hair. She often adjusts her eyelid because it closes.
Bear is a teddy bear missing a paw. He was abandoned by his owner. He walks with a cane, which serves as a crutch.
Matryona is a Russian nesting doll that contains not copies of itself, but its sons: Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si. They are named after the musical notes. They look like Asian ninjas. Matryona's owner was Asian.
Moby is Varya's yellow push-button mobile phone. It helps Buratino and Malvina find Pierrot, Varya, and the factory.
The hockey players are cardboard cutouts of hockey players in blue and white uniforms with sticks. There are only three of them: number 8, number 12, and number 10.
There are also other toys, and there are a lot of them underground.

Maredur, formerly Duremar, used to sell leeches through charlatanism. He works for Mr. Bascara, catching toys (he kept his net for this purpose). He has a crow named Carconta, which he uses to find the "raw materials."

Varya Vozhakova is the girl who owns the doll Malvina. She lives in an old house in Moscow. Her room is full of old toys, forgotten by the other children. A cheerful, brave, and giggly girl, she has a great imagination. She helps Pierrot search for Malvina and Buratino.

Fox Alice and cat Basilio are old acquaintances of Mr. Baskara, con artists. They run an illegal roulette game in the puppet shop's underground and resell basic goods. Cunning, brazen, but cowardly, they possess numerous criminal talents. Eventually, they defect to Buratino's side.

Malvina is Mr. Bascara's former prima donna. A capricious and untouchable woman, she's prone to hasty, negative judgments. She doesn't reciprocate Pierrot's affections and disapproves of Buratino's impulsiveness and arrogance. She unwittingly causes the discovery of an underground hiding place for old toys. She's an excellent sewer.

Pierrot is a poet and a star of the puppet underground. He speaks in verse. He is prone to theatrical gestures, dramatization, and depression. He loves Malvina. He is unable to compose poetry to order, but demonstrates fortitude in the face of adversity.

Mr. Baskara is a modern-day version of Karabas-Barabas. A shrewd businessman, he runs a toy factory in a massive building in Moscow's industrial heartland. He's updated his classic look by shaving his beard and donning a suit. Vain and greedy, he believes technology can transform not only appearance but also the human soul to his advantage.

Buratino is the leader of the puppet underground, bold, impulsive, and self-assured. With the help of his friends, he rescues toys trapped in Maredur's net. He knows all the Moscow dungeons and is adept at organizing teamwork among the "underground" members. He wears modern clothing: sneakers, a T-shirt, and sweatpants. The long nose and cap remain from the classic Buratino image.
