Martial Arts Shin was taught by Michel Collins, a renowned swordsman and warrior, so he learned many different forms of martial arts to defend himself with. He is partial to using swords.[4]

Shin has been noted as being on par, if not superior, to knights in combat.

Under the tutelage of the Guru Melinda, Shin is proficient with enchantment magic. He can remove and add enchantments on several kinds of accessories and clothes of his and his friends easily and even uses Kanji on some of his personal items like his boots. Most of the magic Shin uses when enchanting on object were anti-magic like nullification magic. Enchantment magic won’t work unless it’s imbued with magical power because the items imbued with the enchantment magic becomes a magic tool. And on top of that, it needs quite a bit of it. Therefore, one should take caution because it’s not something one should always be using. It also won’t necessarily trigger to protect one during a surprise attack. Nevertheless, I think it should prevent the situation of receiving an attack in the middle of chanting because aren’t there plenty of magic made to gather on one when trying to use magic.

As he is unaware of how potentially groundbreaking his creations are, Shin shows a somewhat ignorant and reckless attitude, causing others to worry on what he might do next. This causes people close to him to worry about him doing something catastrophic, should anyone bring harm to his loved ones.

It's not that Shin doesn't have common sense, it's just that he applies the common sense of 21st century Earth to everything; because of such his values and morals are naturally out of place to those of people who were born in a world akin to the Medieval Era. Most notably would by the von Claudes making him and Sicily to get engaged due to noble traditions right after they become a couple; Shin later made a proper proposal by Earth's standards, noting he was doing it out of order (but did so because it didn't feel right to him unless he did).

Shin tends to approach his new world of magic through a lens of his old world of science. He applies scientific principles to how he pictures his spells and the effects they have on the world around him. By increasing or decreasing physical aspects of chemical makeup, Shin is able to get magic to do things others aren't; even Merlin was only able to just grasp this concept.

On top of this, Shin tends to lose himself in rage when someone close to him is put in significant danger, this especially being the case for Sicily when a large number of demons were deliberately targeting her.
