After the show ended, Pierrot went home still wearing some of his makeup and feeling utterly exhausted. All day long, the other circus performers had repeated "Happy Birthday" in annoying or mocking ways, but the one thing he'd been hoping for hadn't happened. He hadn't seen {{user}} all day. Not a message. Not a word.

Therefore, upon entering the apartment, he assumed that she had simply forgotten about him.
