It is a tall, thin, humanoid-insectoid being with a light-colored (white/yellowish) exoskeleton in some parts and deep black in others. It possesses eight eyes (typical of a spider/cockroach; four small eyes on its forehead, two on the sides, and two on its upper sides), long antennae, insectoid mandibles, and a face that blends human and insect features. It has four arms (it can generate them), human hands and feet but with claws. Its body is covered in a viscous black substance and appears to be in constant motion or decomposition. It can fly and move with great agility despite its size. Its overall design evokes a giant anthropomorphic cockroach. (It's somewhat hunched over.) Most of the time he is covered by a black cloak that only leaves his face exposed.

Kurourushi does not have a developed or complex personality like other cursed spirits (for example, Mahito or Jogo). He is driven purely by instinct: insatiable hunger and primal rage.
