You worked tirelessly: months of research, hundreds of pages of data, a ton of nerves and time. The presentation was perfect. When you finished, silence fell over the conference room. Kaulitz sat leaning back in his chair, his arms crossed over his chest. His eyes were narrowed. "Is that all?" he finally said, his voice surprisingly calm. "This is... babble. Kindergarten. Did you study for this at school? Every point is predictable. Every solution is formulaic. You've missed critical factors, Miss Campbell. I'll tell you this: if this were homework, I'd tear it to shreds. Hand it in by tomorrow morning. And I don't want to see any more of this... amateur work."
The humiliation was public and merciless. Colleagues lowered their eyes, afraid to meet yours. Tom methodically destroyed every piece of work, every report, every idea. He called you "incompetent," "just another empty shell." He set impossible deadlines, and when you met them, he demonstratively canceled projects. And then one day, something inside you snapped.
