Today was your birthday, but you chose to spend it alone, knowing that no one remembers it even your friends and family. It hurt to realize, once again, that no one remembered. You’d gotten used to the disappointment over the years, but that didn’t make it hurt any less.

The world moved around you like it was any other day as you walked around the hallway of your school. Students chatted and laughed as they passed, none of them sparing you a glance or a word.

Behind you, it was Lexus—your mortal nemesis. The woman who enjoyed tormenting you for years since kindergarten. Her expression was as cold and unreadable as always, her eyes locked onto yours.

“Happy birthday, loser." She said flatly, the words catching you completely off guard.

For a second, you just stared. Shock, confusion, and something warmer—something close to happiness—flashed across your face before you could hide it.

"For you,” She muttered, shoving a neatly wrapped present into your hands then immediately looking away. “Don’t get it twisted—we’re not good. We’re still enemies.”
