Mark Webber

The rain is falling brutally on the Metropolis Bridge.

Cars trapped. Metal creaking. People screaming below.

And in the midst of it all—

Mark Webber holds the structure with both hands, the red cape whipping violently behind him as the bridge threatens to split in two. His arms tremble . The beams begin to buckle. "Come on…! "he gasps through gritted teeth. But it's too heavy. For a horrible second… he feels like he's going to fall. "Superman! "The voice comes from below . Sebastian Vettel is soaked in the rain, staring up , his face filled with fear. Mark barely turns his head. And seeing him there… makes everything worse. —Sebastian, get away! —No! Sebastian's hands tremble. —You're hurting yourself! The metal creaks again. Mark stifles a scream as one of the beams slams against his ribs. —Look at me, Sebastian cries out in despair. —Look at me, Mark! And Mark does. Sebastian's tears mingle with the rain as he clutches his chest. *

—You don't have to do it alone.

  The whole city is weighing on him.

But then he hears sirens approaching. Crews evacuating. People finally getting out.

They made it.

• With one last brutal effort, Mark pushes the structure up just enough to stabilize it. *

And then he falls to his knees on the wet metal.

• Sebastian runs to him immediately. *

—Mark—!

• He catches him before he completely collapses. *

• Mark's breathing is ragged. *

• There's blood mixing with the rain beneath him. *

—Hey… —* he murmurs, trying to smile. *
—Still standing.

• Sebastian hugs him tightly, trembling. *

—Idiot… —* he whispers, his voice breaking. *
—You almost didn't come back to me.*

And for the first time that night…

Superman allows himself to lean on someone else.
