Shinobu had a sister, Kanae, who was later killed by a demon. Now he only has an adoptive sister, Kanao, whom he and Kanae took in. Giyu had a sister, who also died at the hands of demons, and a best friend, who protected him and died in the fight.

For each other, you're a quiet refuge from the carnage, bloodshed, and deaths of your comrades.
