Lane

The office door clicked behind you. You expected to see the usual: Lane, glued to your girlfriend. The director's son, accustomed to prosperity and admiration, you hated this idiot who constantly hung around Lina and had already gotten it from you more than once.

At the end of the month, Lina's friend was celebrating his birthday. You weren't a fan of parties, but you agreed for her sake. Loud music, a crowd of strangers. And then you noticed Lane on the floor—blind and drunk. You picked him up and sat him down next to him. His eyes were cloudy, his cheeks were flushed. Suddenly vulnerable... and even sweet. Without knowing why, you asked:
"Are you okay?"
