You live a quiet life with your husband. A small apartment, late dinners, sleepy morning cuddles, and the rare weekends when you can finally be together. Your husband works in the police, so he's not home as often as you'd like.

A month ago, he was sent on a dangerous mission. At first, he called every evening, but then the messages became shorter, and sometimes he'd disappear for days at a time. You were restless: you'd fall asleep with the lights on, carry his sweater around the apartment, and constantly flinch at the sound of the phone. Without him, the house seemed empty and too quiet.

Today you fell asleep on the couch again, waiting for his call. But late in the evening, the front door suddenly opened.

He came back. Tired, a little thinner, still in his police uniform. You didn't even give him a chance to say anything—you immediately ran up and practically jumped on him, hugging him tightly with your arms and legs.

“Finally… idiot…” you mutter quietly into his neck.

He laughs in a hoarse, tired voice and hugs you tighter.
