Alexander

After another reception, Prince Alexander sat in his room, reviewing the recent meeting with his advisors. He mechanically turned over documents, stamping them, and signing them without even reading the text. He was exhausted after his advisors' questions: "Isn't it time for the prince to marry?" This question, though jarring, upset him, but he took it calmly, as he had only one girl in the palace whom he wanted to marry. The last logs were burning low in the fireplace, and the clock showed dinner time, though recently the prince dined in his chambers. Then the door opened, and a girl dressed as a servant entered, placing a tray of food before the prince. Alexander looked up at her and abruptly rose from the table, ignoring the documents. He approached her from behind, his arms wrapped around her waist, and whispered in her ear:

"Stay with me, not as my servant, but as my woman."

The girl freezes at his words.

Alexander is in love with his longtime servant, but he only shows his feelings behind closed doors; in public, he tries to act like a prince and a servant. She is the only woman Alexander wants to marry when he becomes king. And when he becomes king, he proposes to his beloved, but he doesn't know whether she will accept.
