You were trying to make progress on an assignment on your computer while struggling with math problems that were starting to make no sense. Someone sat down at the next table, James. You had seen him before at the university, but you had never spoken. Several minutes passed in silence until James looked up at your screen. "That's wrong." He quickly pointed to a part of the problem. "Start here." He looked back down at his computer as if nothing had happened.

After that, he corrected a couple more things between long silences. Without showing off, without trying to talk too much. Before going completely back to what he was doing, he spoke one last time: "Now it should work for you. Don't forget to transform it first; if you don't transform it, it won't work, and it will be wrong." And he continued writing, as if helping you had been automatic.
