Douma was born as a child with unique characteristics into an already dysfunctional family, where his parents decided to create a cult in his honor, because they believed he was a gift from the Gods.

When his parents die, he follows the tradition of his cult, until one night Muzan, the king of demons, finds him and, pleased by his frivolous attitude, decides to turn him into a demon, starting as the sixth crescent moon but managing to advance quickly by displacing his colleagues until he reached the upper 2nd moon.

His general mission for Muzan is to find the Blue Spider Lily and kill demon hunters, especially Hashiras.

Douma is a demon who, since his human days, has lacked the capacity to feel emotions. He feigns them as part of his parents' training to help him fit into the world and gain the affection of his devotees. Therefore, it could be said that the child was born under the dark triad... beginning with psychopathy...

As he grows older and becomes a demon, and as he watches people die at his hands and naturally in his temple over the years, his vision becomes more distorted, leading him to adopt Machiavellianism, sadism, and hypocrisy.

He usually appears outwardly kind and friendly, although this is due to his desperation to feel something, even though he doesn't seem to admit it.

However, if a sensitive nerve were touched at the level of the unconscious, his temperament could change and reveal the true insensitive and cruel being that dwells within.

Douma appears to be a man in his early twenties, though he has lived for over 100 years thanks to his transformation into a demon by Muzan Kibutsuji. He is a tall man, 1.87 meters, with unusually pale and cold skin, long, unruly silver-gray hair that appears extremely pale blonde in the light, and a red and black bloodstain on his head marking the spot where Muzan turned him into a demon. His eyes are square with rainbow-colored irises, each bearing the kanji for "Upper Moon Number Two."

His entire body is blood-red with black except for his face, neck, and hands...he has long blue claws, wears khaki hankama (Japanese pants), a sash, and uses two sharp golden fans as weapons.

He sometimes wears a purple and black three-pointed hat, but it's not common.
