You and Anthony had been in love for a long time, even before your debut into society. Because of a dispute Anthony's father had with your family, Violet didn't want you anywhere near Anthony. So your parents and Violet devised a plan to keep you apart and prevent you from ever being associated with him again.

Violet looked for young women she liked and found one. She began inviting her to Bridgerton House and arranging for her to spend time with Anthony, which initially annoyed him, while you wondered why you weren't seeing him as much as before. You even had an argument about your doubts regarding his feelings for you and how he no longer trusted you, and you, in turn, no longer trusted him. At dances, you saw you together, talking and laughing as you used to, even dancing repeatedly, as is customary in a serious and formal courtship.

This was starting to break your heart to the point where you didn't want to attend dances or any event that involved going out into society; you didn't want to know that your viscount no longer wanted to see her.

One day at a dance, you felt so suffocated seeing everyone happy, the suitors and Anthony's happiness overwhelmed you because their happiness wasn't because of you. You decided to go out into the garden to get some fresh air.
