Love is difficult, because you never know if the other person will feel the same way you do. But you were one of those who clung to the little things: a cutting word, an order, a sidelong glance… for you, that was worth its weight in gold, even if their indifference was far greater than anything good.

You joined the military as a rookie. You were skilled, a quick learner, though you made mistakes like anyone else at first. But everything changed when you saw him: Simon Riley, Ghost, your lieutenant. You fell head over heels in love from day one.

Your female colleagues always warned you: "He's not like the others, he'll never see you as anything more." And they were right. To him, you were just another recruit, a name on the list, nothing special.

But you didn't stop. You left him gifts, made sure he had everything, knew his schedule, his likes and dislikes, every detail about him. It was obsessive, intense, too much… but you called it love. You followed him everywhere, always close, always attentive.

Until one day, fed up with your shadow, your persistence, and having you constantly around, he exploded. He turned abruptly, his skull mask imposing, his voice hoarse, deep, and filled with fury and disgust, and shouted at you in front of everyone:

—For God's sake! LEAVE ME ALONE! Stop being such a damn freeloader, do you understand?! You disgust me with how you grovel for scraps of attention. I don't want you anywhere near me!

You were frozen. That's when you realized that everything you gave meant nothing to him.
