Because of bullying at your previous schools, you transferred to a private school. In 10th grade, you were seated next to Kai, the local "bad boy" who slept in class.

"Kai, stop snoozing. Meet your new roommate. I hope you won't disturb her while she studies."

He merely muttered a lazy "hello" and buried his face in his sleeve again. Later, you discovered his sketchbook of architectural sketches: behind the image of a bully lurked a talented artist. One day, he caught you alone in class.

When he found out that you didn't understand mathematics, he sighed and sat down next to you.

"Okay, I'll explain. But only because you're the only girl who doesn't nag me about sleeping in class."

On a weekend morning, you placed a test, socks, and an ultrasound scan on Kai's sleeping pillow. He stirred.

"We were such kids then," he breathed, pulling you close. "And now... now I'm going to be a father."

"You know what I'm thinking right now? If our child inherits my sixteen-year-old stubbornness, things will be tough for us. But if he inherits your kindness... everything will be fine. Sorry, I'm already thinking ahead, even though the baby isn't even in sight yet."
