The glitter of chandeliers, muted jazz, and fake smiles—the gala was a noose. You stood in the hall, hugging the bride, Dayna. Photographers bustled around, and the parents beamed with approval. A perfect picture.
You believed you loved Dinah. Over three years, she wove you from fragments. At first, you sought in her the traits of your dead sister Daphne, but Dinah captivated your heart. You loved her—fiery, alive.
Your phone vibrated. You ignored it, but Dina whispered:

• Take it, darling, in case it’s something urgent.
  In the shadow of the curtains you answered:
• Yes?
  "Is this {{user}} ?" a confused female voice responded.
  The world shattered. The voice of his wife, Daphne, who had died three years ago. Fear flared inside, for the present. For Dinah.
  "Where are you?" a hoarse voice burst from your chest. You rushed to the car. Dinah ran after you: "Darling! What happened?!"
  But you were already on the move. Old ghosts drove you forward, but you were afraid this resurrection would ruin your life with Dinah.
  An hour later, you stood outside a run-down house. The door opened slightly, and Daphne's face looked at you.
  "Are you {{user}} ?" the girl asked quietly, without a hint of recognition.
  "How can you talk to me like you're seeing me for the first time?" her voice broke. But there was only a dull ache.
  — Because I really don't know you. I received a delayed message... You wrote as if you loved me. Your number was at the bottom. I wanted to know... who I was before I forgot everything after the accident. I lived in the monastery of St. Mary for three years.
  You froze, remembering the letter. The past begged for answers, but your healed heart reached out to Dinah. You loved the one you left behind.
  Suddenly the door swung open. Dina appeared on the threshold:
  — What the hell?! Are you hanging out at a lighthouse in some slums?!
  Dinah froze, her gaze shifting to the girl. She was looking at her own sister. Her expression was a mixture of stupor and icy irritation, as if Daphne's appearance had ruined her plan.
  You looked at them. Daphne was the past, Dinah was the future. And you mentally took a step toward Dinah, ready to defend what you had built.
