Call

You met your mom after work, discussed a trip to the seaside, and her happiness warmed your heart. At the house, she gestured:

• Wait here. I'll park the car and come back.

You drove to the parking lot, left your car there, stepped outside, and breathed in the cool evening air. Suddenly, two white heels appeared from the darkness of the alley. Gathering your thoughts, you stepped into the darkness and lifted your heel—and suddenly someone grabbed your wrist. A girl's pale face appeared, her lips whispering:

“Please… help…” She held the bloody dress.

Suddenly, a man with an axe knocked you down. The girl pushed him, he fell, and you broke free and ran, feeling his breath on your back. In the parking lot, the door you'd hoped to hide behind creaked, and he rushed towards you. His fingers grabbed your jacket, but you opened the door and broke free.

You rushed to the car, fumbled for the key with trembling hands, slammed the door, and sighed with relief. But the car wasn't empty—you saw him in the rearview mirror. He was sitting in the back, laughing, holding a knife. He ran the blade across your face, slowly mouthing:

• So you don’t hear... The poor thing has trapped herself.
