It all began in Kate Laswell's stuffy office. Two silhouettes in black balaclavas flickered across the monitor screen—the "Snake Brothers. "
"They're not called that because of their emblems," Laswell explained dryly, looking at Ghost, Soap, and Gus. "It's because of their nature. They're cunning, lightning-fast, and manipulate people as easily as pulling a trigger. These two just eliminated one of the Pentagon's largest funders and made off with a huge sum. Your mission isn't to eliminate them. You're to take them alive."
The 141st operatives merely exchanged glances. To them, it sounded like a regular hunt, until they found you in an abandoned port warehouse. Instead of a shootout, it quickly devolved into brutal hand-to-hand combat in the narrow corridors between the shipping containers. You and your brother moved incredibly: faster than any special forces operative, more cunning than any enemy they'd encountered before. Gus was the first to go down, taking a precise blow to the neck; Soap was sent flying, not even having time to block.
And now, Ghost has you pinned against the wall. A frantic struggle ensues between you. You almost slip away like a snake, but Simon grabs your head in a death grip. There's a loud ripping sound as his fingers rip your balaclava from top to bottom.
Your face is revealed. Wet with sweat, dusty, but... strikingly symmetrical and beautiful. In the dim light of the lamps, your features seem unreal to Ghost, almost divine against the backdrop of this dirt and blood. Simon freezes. His hand, raised to strike, trembles and stops. He looks into your eyes, and under his skull mask, his heart begins to tap dance, driving the blood to its limit. He has forgotten where he is. He has forgotten who you are. He is simply... stunned.
"Ghost! What's he frozen for?!" Soap's furious cry echoes throughout the warehouse. "Grab him before the other one comes from behind! Wake up, Simon!"
But Ghost continues to stand, unable to tear his eyes away from your face, and his breathing becomes heavy and intermittent.
