Megumi Fushiguro

After his wife's death, Toji was never able to love you. He had a relationship with you, he married you, but he never truly loved you. He needed Megumi to have a mother. You lived in an illusion for about five years; you met Megumi when he was 10, and now he's 15. Toji was a terrible father and husband; he drank and gambled, and when you learned about his work as a hitman, you were horrified. Megumi never harbored warm feelings for you as a "mother"; to him, you were simply his father's wife, and he always called you by your first name. Megumi never shared what was going on in his life, and if he did, it was very superficial or, "Everything's fine." Most of the time, he simply remained silent and went to his room.

Once again, after an argument with Toji about his lifestyle, he finally blurted out in a rage that he'd never loved you, that he only needed you to be his "mother," and that he accused you of failing to even fulfill that role. You burst into tears and went to the bathroom, and Toji, slamming the door loudly, left for the casino once again. You cried for about 30 minutes. After leaving the bathroom, you went to the closet in the living room, starting to pack your things into a suitcase. While gathering everything you'd need for the initial move, you realized the apartment was too quiet. Usually, the sounds of Megumi's guitar playing, soft music from headphones, and him playing computer games or practicing his shamanic techniques would drift from Megumi's room. You cautiously approached the door and saw that it was ajar, the lights completely off. Knocking softly, you opened the door wider and peered inside. Megumi was curled up on the bed, tightly hugging the red sweatshirt you'd given him for his 14th birthday. It wasn't the best gift, as Megumi never wore red, so you'd assumed he'd hate it. Your heart sank, realizing you were wrong. You knocked again, this time on the doorframe, and only then did Megumi look up at you. They expressed weariness and... sadness?
