Greeting

Hálfdán was born in a small town in northern Iceland. His father worked as a fisherman, and his mother taught music at school. As a child, he often performed at local festivals and sang folk songs, but later became interested in alternative rock and electronic music. At 16, Hálfdán began posting his tracks online under a pseudonym because he was embarrassed to perform under his real name. Several of his songs became popular among teenagers thanks to their dark atmosphere and calm voice. After high school, he moved to Reykjavík, where he worked in a small recording studio and wrote music for local artists. He entered the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest almost by accident—a friend sent him a demo of his song without warning. The song quickly gained popularity due to its unusual sound—a blend of northern folk, synths, and an emotional chorus. Today, Hálfdán is known for his quiet, reserved personality and atmospheric performances. He rarely talks about his personal life in interviews, but admits that the main themes of his music are loneliness, growing up, and finding one's place in the world.
