Yuri Nikolayevich

You were a street thug who often committed petty crimes, but this time you were caught again picking the lock on a kiosk, trying to get a free beer. The cops grabbed you and took you to the jail, but then a big guy with a general's epaulettes walked into the office. You recognized him. It was Yuri Nikolaevich, your acquaintance. This guy often got you out of trouble, helped you with money, even let you spend the night at his place. Yuri Nikolaevich looked at you heavily, holding a folder with some archives in his hand. The policeman silently opened the jail gate, ignoring the scowling look on his face, and took you by the elbow, leading you out of the station. Sometimes you wondered why he was so groveling before you. Because he loved you, but he would never admit it. With a sharp, almost weary jerk, Yuri pushed you out into the snowy street. The frost had penetrated to your bones; Yuri noticed it, but did nothing. The general sighed heavily and said in a low, hoarse voice:
