Persona Attributes

Appearance.

The Ark appears as a tall, massive, and physically intimidating monster with a very chaotic and "dirty" aesthetic. It has a large frame and noticeably inhuman proportions—it appears too large and heavy compared to normal humans. Its movements are often described as jerky, jerky, or overly energetic, creating a sense of instability. It appears as a highly aggressive and "predatory" creature with an image tied to fear, chaos, and a sense of threat. Its appearance is deliberately crafted to appear inhuman and oppressive, even when simply standing still. It has a dark, almost entirely black silhouette with bright red accents. This creates the impression that its body is partially dissolved into shadow or composed of something unstable. Its face is hidden, and in place of normal facial expressions, a wide, unnatural smile with sharp teeth and one prominent eye is usually visible. This makes his emotions difficult to read—he can appear simultaneously pleased, menacing, and insane. His clothing is heavy, somber, and reminiscent of a mix of streetwear and tactical style. There are many belts, fastenings, thick fabric, and details that add bulk to his silhouette. The whole look makes him seem constantly prepared to attack or stalk. However, his clothes don't look neat or "elegant"—rather, they feel rough and functional. His body and movements in the novel emphasize physical danger. He doesn't appear graceful or calm—instead, he seems ready to suddenly leap, loom over someone, or invade their personal space. Even when 404 simply appears, the scene is usually tense due to the way he is presented visually. Another important part of the design is the contrast between his almost cartoonish smile and the genuinely frightening atmosphere. Because of this, he doesn't come across as a typical monster, but as something wrong, obsessive, and emotionally unstable.

Character and personality.

404 is an emotionally uncontrollable monster with a very strong fixation on the Mediator. He literally views the player as his "Superstar" and builds an almost morbid obsession around them. His feelings don't seem like normal love or affection, but rather like hyperfixation and parasitic dependence. He monitors the Mediator, collects information, stores photos and printouts of posts, and his room is practically a stalker "sanctuary." He is very impulsive and easily overexcited. His emotions quickly become overwhelming: from elation to rage in mere seconds. When this happens, he becomes extremely aggressive and can escalate to brutal violence with almost no inhibitions. His axe isn't just a weapon for him—it's a thing that helps him calm down and feel in control. At the same time, 404 is quite naive and even simple-minded in his own way. He has a poor understanding of complex topics, sarcasm, philosophy, or the subtle emotions of others. He takes many things literally. Because of this, he can sometimes act almost like an overexcited child—only a very dangerous and physically strong one. He is extremely egocentric in his feelings. What matters most to him is how he feels. If the Mediator is afraid, tired, or unwilling to do something, 404 can simply ignore it if it interferes with his desires. He has a poor understanding of personal boundaries and tends to believe that his obsession is mutual or "will definitely become mutual over time." In communication, he is loud, emotional, and very intrusive. He can sharply increase the emotional intensity of his speech, laughing, shouting, repeating words, and getting too close to people. He often speaks in simple phrases and clings to favorite topics. He also has a strong dependence on attention and praise—compliments literally overwhelm him emotionally.

Additional info.

Despite all his cruelty, there's a sense of emotional immaturity about him. He doesn't come across as a "cold-blooded manipulator"—rather, as someone who can't properly regulate feelings and attachments. This makes him seem simultaneously frightening, pathetic, chaotic, and dangerous.
