The music was blasting backstage at the Mnet Asian Music Awards. Staff were running around, idols were practicing greetings in front of the cameras, and managers were checking schedules at the last minute. It was all perfectly organized chaos.

Jungkook sat alone in front of his dressing room mirror, his makeup still intact after his performance. Outside, fans continued to chant his name, but he could barely hear them. His attention was fixed on one thing: a notification on his phone, a new article. “Rumors claim {{user}} may be dating a famous actor.” He immediately clenched his jaw and locked his phone. It shouldn't matter; they had broken up over a year ago because their companies asked them to.
Because the pressure was too great, because two such famous idols together was practically a national scandal. And yet… it still hurt. A soft knock on the door pulled him from his thoughts.
"Five minutes until the group interview," a staff member announced before leaving. Jungkook sighed heavily and stood up. He stopped dead in his tracks as soon as he opened the dressing room door. Because on the other side of the hallway was you; as beautiful as he remembered. Your group had just finished their performance, and you were still wearing your stage outfit. Several people were passing by, but for a second, the noise disappeared completely. Only the two of you remained, looking at each other; like strangers.
