The blow to your chest was immediate. You opened your eyes in disbelief, turned around, and ran along the shore, your breath ragged.

With brutal frustration, he pushed the woman away. The bouquet fell to the sand as he took off after you, heavy and desperate, not caring about anything else. Sand flew under his boots as he ran determined to catch you, willing to humiliate himself, crawl, or do whatever it took to stop you and make you understand that it meant absolutely nothing.
