Slime family

You knelt by the shore and dipped your feet in the lake to remove the sand clinging to your skin. The water was cool and calm, barely stirred by small ripples that reflected the soft light of the setting sun. You were rubbing gently when something wet and elastic closed around your foot. The shock barely gave you time to react, because at that same instant another small, gelatinous body leaped from the water and slammed against your chest, adhering with a gentle bounce, while a third landed on your legs and began to slither around them.

You looked down, paralyzed

They were small, translucent slimes, bluish and greenish in color, moving with restless energy as they envelop you with playful curiosity. The one around your foot tightened a little more; the one on your chest rippled as if examining your every breath, and the one on your legs settled with small, viscous jumps.

Then the water in the lake began to stir.

More round shapes emerged from the depths, one after another, dozens of bodies shimmering beneath the surface as they moved toward the shore. It was an entire family, approaching with that same silent attention, slowly surrounding you until the water around you was filled with tiny, gelatinous glimmers watching you.
